Georgie got a brand new bike,
showing off to all the kids.
"Hop on, I'll give you a ride."
I said no, but they all did.
I was scared to ride double,
afraid that I would fall off.
I knew it would bring trouble.
Everyone began to scoff.
I got on reluctantly;
Georgie rode us up the block,
pedaled back, got there safely.
"Okay, Georgie, now we stop."
"One more round," Georgie told me.
My poor heart began to race.
Made a turn at the alley,
off I flew onto my face.
I got up and started home,
too stunned to know I was hurt
"til I touched my sore chin bone,
saw the blood begin to spurt.
That is when screaming began,
Mom came running, so did Dad;
tried to stop the blood that ran.
"This is looking pretty bad."
Off to St. Luke's Hospital,
seven stitches in my chin.
Double rides? I've had my fill,
won't be doing that again!
