Mighty SNAIL 20 feet across driveway
Toting heavy mobile home on back
One foot plodding will take most of today,
Slime trail traces long burdensome track

Pesky SLUG munches plants in my garden
Purple petunias highlight quick meal
Salad digested under shell hidden,
Tomorrow he'll seek daisies with zeal

PERIWINKLE flower no, gastropod yes
Humans fancy meaty snail from seashore
Grazing on algae during high tide fearless,
Once netted 'winkles' swim in sauces galore

Ornate hollow CONCH shell fittingly renowned
Widespread well-known food giver for man's plate
Musical instrument with pleasant horn sound,
Ancient worship symbol, oft used fish bait.

Author Notes
The milk snails which live in my yard and climb everything, house included, are the seed for this poem.
