“Sit down and stay a while”,
My loneliness calls to me.
“Have a cup of coffee, and remember you’re wild and free.”
I know you’ve been afraid of me,
How you used to run away-
Always had to have a Clyde,
And a mapped out, play by play.
Just to get through the day,
Without acknowledging I am here-
Wrapped around your heartstrings,
Humming melody’s in your ear.
“Sit down and stay a while”
My loneliness begs to me,
“Relax your aching bones,
And maybe have a cup of tea.”
“You’re starting to realize I’m not so bad- not quite the enemy-
in fact, I think you’re seeing now,
That part of you, is me”
I ponder the words carpe diem-
Where I’ll go and who I might see,
But, if I’m feeling better off alone,
Am I inherently lonely?
“Just sit, and stay a while”
My loneliness calls to me,
So I relax my shoulders and look around
at the color of the trees-
I’m feeling kind of calm now,
In this moment peacefully
And my loneliness says,
“You’re not alone, for you should love yourself, you see?”
And I realize in a moment,
With this subtle peace of mind-
I’m really not that lonely,
I just never took my time.
