My love left me for one who could tell jokes.
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Myself, I can’t even laugh at one.
The flowers out front have all died – thirsted to death.
The mailman emptied out the box some time ago.
Weekly groceries appear on the stoop.
When that will end, I don’t care.
I jigsaw puzzle – one piece a day – it has no sky.
I scroll internet headlines, reports others care about.
Page 105 of a non-descript novel perused a thousand times –
The date my love left for the one who knew jokes.
The moment the puzzle is complete, I will surely die – alone,
Alone to where the flowers went, the joke that there is no sky.
