A Bird Song by Daylily
Poem For A Child contest entry

                        A colorful parrot,

                        brighter than a carrot,

                        says: Polly, Polly, Polly—

even though her name is Holly.

                        She’s also a swinging parrot

who makes us laugh and feel quite jolly.

Author Notes
Google definition of a Ditty: a short and simple song.

The words used for poem lyrics are not required to follow a strict meter.
For children, the lines are usually short and catchy.

I have not yet learned how to add audio to my postings.
When I do, I plan on including the original tune for this ditty.

I used a digital camera back in 2004 to take this picture.
The parrot is a hand puppet.
