Daddy, Dear. by Shirley Ann Bunyan
Write a Kyrielle writing prompt entry

Your evilness, in closing hours,
still wrought a daunting atmosphere.
Skin yellow, crinkled, body soured.
Stained was your deathbed, Daddy, dear.

I looked into your sunken eyes.
What did they offer, shame or fear?
You gasped in seas of sordid lies.
Stained was your deathbed, Daddy, dear.

There was a happy time before
the dark, the 'special' Daddy years.
You were the Daddy I adored.
Stained was your deathbed, Daddy, dear.

So I grew brave as your life waned.
Your legacy I will not bear.
You knew the poison in your veins
had stained your deathbed, Daddy, dear.

I stood strong, my power reclaimed,
though trembling with your presence near.
Forgiveness breaks my heavy chains.
Stained was your deathbed, Daddy, dear.

Writing Prompt
A kyrielle is made of quatrains (four lines) that rhyme (any rhyme scheme can be used). Each stanza (quatrain) has a line that repeats from the previous stanza. That line is usually the last line in the stanza, but it does not have to be. Each line is made up of eight syllables. There is no limit to the number of stanzas. A Kyrielle is usually made up of three or more stanzas. For this prompt, a minimum of three stanzas is required.

Author Notes
Thankfully, this is not autobiographical, but from a harrowing victim account I previously read.
