Of course, one should be generally loving and caring to his/her fellow man. But, come on folks, let's all be real; if our romantic lovers didn't have, or somehow lost, all those major desirable qualities that we liked and attracted us to them, would we truly be with them or romantically love them? Romantic love is really 'all conditional' when you really think about it.
