: The Truth of A Mater by Aiona
A poem about a Woman contest entry
Artwork by Jewell McChesney at FanArtReview.com

"Patient" and "kind"
Were not on her mind
When discarding a dress
'Cause I liked it the best.

Jealous of others,
My bitter mother's
Permanent mood
Was always rude.

"I'm better than her!"
"He got his desserts!"
"No, I will not bend."
"Any means to my end!"

Always glued to her phone;
Motto: "Leave me alone."
She never forgives;
Past hurts she re-lives.

Mocks others' misfortune.
Lays blame when it's her turn.
Earth's angels have tried
To save her and died.

To think there's no hope
And sit 'round and mope
Means doubt in God's work.
So I won't be a jerk.

There is nothing I lack
God's still got my back.

Author Notes
1 Corinthians 13 verse 12 is basically Paul writing to the people of Corinth, "Make sure you're not a narc." Accept that you made mistakes, and do better. Narcs never self-reflect, hence they continue hurting people.

I call this style of poem "DiPesto" -- named after one of the characters in the 1980s show "Moonlighting."

Thank you to Jewell McChesney for letting FanStory authors use this awesome painting "Living in the Moment" with their writing.
