I awoke this morning with an air of joie de vivre
delighted in being alive had my mind dancing a jig
when without warning the thoughts I thought,
in sleep, which flowed as easily as a river to the sea,
became jammed against a dam, no longer free;
as if they had never been as clever as I believed
turning the brilliance gathered into ephemeral blather.
How to proceed made a fool out of me.
I blinked my eyes, let out a sigh
sat in a chair, and began to cry.
trying to shake cobwebs from my mind.
Zip, zippo, zilch. Diddly squat.
So, I am doing the next best thing.
I'm going back to sleep.
