Warning: The author has noted that this contains the highest level of violence. A dark night in Iraq on firewatch, rotating from using night vision in the turret of the LAV to scanning the dark with my own eyes. A shot rings out and a call for Corpsman Up!!! comes right after.
Everyone awakens to absolute chaos as one of the Marines lay shot still in his sleeping bag. The Marine is provided aid and rushed into the back of an LAV and taken to the nearest Medical area.
Despite best efforts of the crew, the Marine passes from an accidental yet self inflicted wound. I am trapped with this memory for now.
