She only meant to sit awhile
Then continue on her walk
But another woman at the table
Decided she would talk.

"As sure as I am sitting here,
I tell you that it's true,
Men are all the same my dear
The trouble! ~I've been through."

This is the story she is told
By the woman at her side
Who hungers for some sympathy
And is anxious to confide.

" May lightning strike me down for dead
If I should tell you lies
My dear he had that shifty look
Those crafty foxy eyes."

"Wicked swine that's what he was
And till my dying day
I will never know how much he earned
He never showed his pay."

"Always smelt of smoke and drink
Spend every blooming quid
Couldn't leave the beer alone
Reeked of it he did."

" Treated him like God ~ I did
Always made a fuss
Not one word of gratitude
He was a mean old cuss."

"Yes, I have been through hell~my dear
The life I've had with Roger
No! my old man left years ago
I'm talking of the lodger".

Author Notes
I am continually amazed at how many people simply "confess" what worries or wearies them to complete strangers. I have encountered many over the years.
