The switch blade twinkled by firelight

I laid it down and took a breath.

My demons flourished every night

The remedy, they urged, is death.

I'd fought them off for ages now

they feasted on my grim despair.

Tonight I really wondered how...

and why and if and when and where.

No answers came, the die was cast

My trembling hand reached for the knife.

Resistance overcome at last

The demons lusted for my life.

God knew my race was not yet run

His angel said: "kneel down and pray."

"Please trust in Us, don't jump the gun

We'll call your soul another day."

I looked the Spirit in the eyes

My soul exalted with relief.

I'd been betrayed by Satan's lies

I'd overlooked my core belief.

I threw the blade against the wall

sank to my knees, gave heartfelt praise.

My Father saved me from the Fall

I'd Keep the Faith for all my days.
