Sometimes it's an idea that does not let go
or experiences that made me grow
political argy-bargy or the horrors of war
when we wonder what indeed the fighting is for
sometimes the Lord speaks and I'm moved to share
other times I carry burdens for those in my care
often I write to clear the emotional fog
other times of the world's most gorgeous dog
writing opens barriers for me
I am no artist but in my imagination I see
all these things and for what it's worth
I think there is no greater gift on earth
