Seeds Sleeping Beneath cold winter ground Waiting for warm March rains to begin.   A slow push, Rising above dark earth Searching, stretching up toward the sun.   Blue Bonnets Texas symbols of spring Form welcome carpets of blue and green. Author Notes The sight of blue bonnets dotting the hills of central Texas are a sure sign that spring is here. I've spent many an hour driving up and down Texas highways looking for the perfect patch of blue bonnets to use for a backdrop to take pictures of my kids. But you have to be careful - rattlesnakes seem drawn to their blossoms, as well.
