Even the Animals by Aussie
Free Form Poetry Contest contest entry

Tears flow from the residents
Lost everything in flowing water
Build and rebuild, still the rains
Monsoon tears, mighty fears
Animals climb trees, crocodiles
A meal waiting to be taken
Man rescues a Kangaroo
Heart of our country
When will the rains cease?
Snakes can swim, not so sheep
Wooly coat drags them under
Cattle look for patchy highland
Man cuddles Kangaroo feeling
Life beating above the floods

Author Notes
Contest Entry for FreeForm poetry. We are struggling with the Monsoon floods. So much damage and the army is on the ground helping SES. Rebuilt homes are being washed away. Cars floating. "I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains. Of rugged mountain ranges, droughts, and flooding rains. A poem by Dorothea McKellar written back in the 30' s when the weather was normal.
