One of my father’s favorite pastimes is to boast about our family’s proud Scandinavian heritage. It happened so often a communal rolling of the eyes was the standard family response. Still, it was very cool knowing his side of the family were direct descendants of the mighty Vikings, who, he constantly reminded us, were forever conquering my mother’s weaker British heritage. Then I received a DNA test kit for my birthday, and all hell broke loose. Writing Prompt Write a complete story in 80 words or less. The theme is 'Surprise.' You may incorporate this theme into the story any way you wish, but it must somehow relate to the topic.
