Raging fires eat the land
Land and homes destroyed
The prayer she hears for help
Faith in nature to open skies
So bad, water-bombing and men
Fight to save the scorched land
People run to evacuate, quickly
Faith in nature to open skies
Skies rumble with thunder loud
Lightning strikes, split trees
Behind the lightning, heavy rain
Faith in nature to open skies
A big fella' my country howls
Wind whipping trees, power down
People huddle in safe places
Faith in nature to open skies
Icy Hail starts the redemption
Heavy rain quenches roaring flames
Animals and cattle scatter for water
Faith in nature to open skies

Author Notes
Contest Entry for Faith Poem. Mother Nature is in control of our lives if we only have faith in her ability to balance life. The fires have been horrific. Weeks have passed and still, people are without electricity. Waiting for evacuees hope and pray their homes still stand. Now, the fire-eaten land is awash and rivers running high. My faith is in nature, she knows our needs and God said, "I sent the south wind to cool the land."
