I am a vertically challenged male
Whatever I do, I must be better
Be it life skills, social, sports or business
Be better than to whom I am compared
Nagging, pesky thoughts of being little
When I enter the world outside my home
I try to project a positive view
But deep inside, I know I can't let down
I have learned to look people in the eyes
My handshakes have become both firm and true
Work to make positivity shines through
In interviews, I wish I were taller
Men and even many women tower
Cast their long shadows heavy over me
I study hard, provide cogent answers
A quiet power I try to apply
I have found I must work extremely hard
In all I intend to do, I have dreams
Hopes and ambitions, I have accomplished
Even though I'm not very statuesque
It's not been trouble-free, but I have found
If I let confidence take hold, work hard
And let my sincere inner self shine through
I am successful even though I'm small
