Presenting Sir Lancelot!!!!!!!! by jim vecchio Class Is In Session writing prompt entry |
Listen, my children, listen hard, to my tale of Lancelot Victor Edward Pinard. He was born in Cumuto, Trinidad; Sir Lancelot was the show business title he had. He studied Italian operas and German lieder. He favored the calypso tunes and meter. His family sent him to study medicine, but that is a career he would jettison. Around concerts would he linger, deciding to become a calypso singer. To his chosen vocation, he labored hard and soon was featured at the Greenwich Village Vanguard. He earned the audience’s rewards; making millions of dollars from his records. You wouldn’t catch him incognito; at all performances, he wore a tuxedo. He returned home not to fame, but blame. His family felt his singing put them to shame. This was difficult for him to handle. That is why he wrote “Shame and Scandal”. With songs and in movies, he gained many a fan; he composed “The Common Man”. Whenever he sang, it seemed the sky lit; his style was the inspiration for the tune of “Gilligan’s Island”. Listen to his songs. His style is fun. Sir Lancelot died on March 1, 2001.
