It's happening again. I watch the narcissistic behaviour with concern. Certainly, it is an act, all for show. I have seen it before, though this time, I ponder. What does he hide in this charm and guile? Something does not ring true; I see it in the smile. It's all a lie; he is hiding something, but the contempt shines. Jealousy is never a reward, but it is a prison of sorts. He can't look at me. What could I have done? Probably nothing intentional. No accusation, just the sly look, the hatred. I long for freedom, but for whom? Writing Prompt In 100 words, or less, write a short story--not necessarily a flash-fiction, though it could be--on the theme/subject/topic of 'prisoner'. It could be literal or metaphoric.
