Drab earth was thirsty, cracked, and dry,
but promise grew in dark'ning sky
-a rainstorm

Hot lightning cast electric spell.
Hale thunder thrummed. With joy, it fell
-a raindrop

One drop, then two, add several more,
a drizzle, then torrential pour
-sweet rainfall

The ground drank deep and, still, it came.
Small pools appeared to stake their claim
-rainpuddles

Unveiling slow, shy sun shone bright,
caressing storm's one last delight
-a rainbow
