One day, there was a rainbow above my friends' domain
It was time for them to leave it and future residence claim
The blessings received that day were many, as were the smiles
secure in God all the while.
Soon after our neighbour's Aussie gum
cracked in two, and then some
close to our fence and window; imagine the crack
the future indeed looked black
The rainbow hue was observed through the uncracked pane
I stood with tears running down my cheeks
The comfort from the rainbow lasted for weeks
The Lord often seeks
to show us a blessing or two
Now, when I hear of rainbow abuse
Rendering the meaning 'obtuse'
I feel like shouting: "It will be in vain."
For He has made it plain
A Holy covenant remains

Writing Prompt |
Write a poem of any kind about a rainbow. |
Author Notes
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
Genesis 9:13-16 NIV
