How the desert can take life and give it back in another way

Deathly Immortality

The silent "S", the silken plea a golden promise
Slick pale sheets, glinting drapes on rounded hills.
Beckons travellers to stride the spell binding dry paths
A trick she has with grainy kisses switching faces.
Loses the group with moving mounds by wind
No grip in the living sands, grains of fraudulence.
Bearing new lands with sandy hair twirling in the wind
Our travelers past revealed with mummified pallor.

Author Notes
The desert takes life quickly. Generally, by thirst and shifting sands can be deceptive for direction and for landmarks. So the desert kills without remorse. At the same time can preserve a person for thousands of years, a sort of life.
