A twinkle in your eye, it seems, was always shining there.
Carefree laughter, infectious grin, and never a worry or care.
Strong and brave, and talented, too, he was dogmatic in his faith.
He wore his callouses as an after-thought, content to run his race.
Compassionately tender in moments of truth.
Vulnerability shared like never in his youth.
I came to know the legendary man while growing in his care.
And later knew him as he was, wholly standing there.
Like my dad, I'm playful and fun, as I navigate this life.
I follow the path set before me, forgetting worry and strife.
