Grandpas Around the World
by Debi Pick Marquette
I did Grandma's poem and I was asked to do one more
To show how much grandpas are loved and I could not ignore
All around the world, so many have a different name
He's special to his grandkids but the love is all the same
One of my grandgirls had called my dad, Grand-Papa Pick
It didn't take too long to see that title for him stick
When Poppy tells his stories, he has treats and lotsa fun
He teases and he tickles, then they soon are on the run
For some, their time more precious, maybe is just once a year
Time together goes too fast, makes Poppa shed a tear
Help in veggie garden with your gramps to grow your own
Awesome time together and will keep them off their phone
In the country, Ga-ga helps to catch some lightning bugs
They hold their arms wide open when you go to give them hugs
Bapa teaches many things, but faith is number one
Saba feels the same way for the Father and the Son
Granddads have such patience as they teach the kids to fish
When they help to clean and fix, they think that it's delish
There's nothing like sporting events that makes a gumpa shout
Proud to see their sportsmanship, it's what it's all about
Being a Boppy should be fun, he has a special place
He teaches love of music and he gives them lots of praise
Paw Paw had a great big heart and loved his sweet grandkids
But sadly, left the world too soon and now he sure is missed
Whether you are east or west, down south or north above
It doesn't really matter, 'cause we know grandfather's love
They are loved around the world, so I just have to say
I wish all of the grandpas here, a Happy Pappy's Day!
