The door slammed, echoing down the long hall. Stacie walked down the hall to see why the door slammed shut. She opened the door, and 100 mph winds knocked her on the ground immediately. She didn't have any way to stop the wind from slamming the door shut.    Stacie lived in Oklahoma which often received tornadoes. She had a friend named Erin who she shared an apartment with. She asked Erin to go on an errand to the grocery store to buy things they needed for upcoming meals. She really hoped the tornado didn't make Erin have a car accident. She heard reports a tornado was supposed to hit the area where she lived.   Erin was due home any minute. When she didn't come home, Stacie got worried. She went outside to see if Erin was coming in the hallway. She was  nowhere to be found. All of a sudden, she heard the howling of the wind. The wind knocked her on the ground again. She went back inside her apartment and heard the wind speed was now 180 mph. The disc jockey said a tornado was imminent. She knew Erin had a cell phone. She called her, and there was no answer. She thought Erin must have turned her phone off.   Within thirty minutes, she heard  on the radio a tornado was going to cause damage in her area any minute. She was startled when her phone rang. A nurse at the local hospital said Erin was there because a tornado had caused her to have a car accident. She asked the nurse if she could talk to Erin. She found out she had bruises on her face but fortunately no broken bones.   She decided to call her friend and neighbor, Lorraine. She said the tornado had caused her house to topple over.  Erin was given pain medication for her bruises, and she was able to come home after the tornado damage was no longer in effect. The winds died down to 50 mph. Erin's car had a bent fender, but it was otherwise okay.   Lorraine and her family hoped to have a house built for them in the next six months. She had a close friend in the realty business her family moved in with until their new house was built. Stacie was so glad it wasn't her that went to the grocery store to get groceries and have the tornado cause her to have a car accident. Writing Prompt Write a story that starts with this sentence: The door slammed, echoing down the long hall. Don't add to the sentence. The catch is this must be flash fiction. So the story should be between 100 and 1,000 words.
