The Bench: Aaron and Beetle by Bill Schott

The scene opens on a park bench with two men sitting on either end.

Aaron: (to the other fellow) Hello there. My name is Zocor.

Beetle:  Funny, you look a lot like my brother and tormentor Aaron.

Aaron: That is one of my gifts, the ability to be seen as whomever I wish.

Beetle:  Why would you want to appear as a loser like Aaron?

Aaron: Loser you say?

Beetle:  Not just me. Anyone who knows him will say the same thing.

Aaron: Perhaps I should appear as Beetle.

Beetle:  I already have that gig.

Aaron: You could certainly improve. This display seems weak.

Beetle:  It may just be your vision. Where are your glasses?

Aaron:  You have them on, Aaron.

Beetle:  How did you know it was me, Aaron.

Aaron: Because you're sitting alone.

Beetle stands and walks off to his left.

Aaron stares forward silently.
