Never Know Which Way He'll Turn by bob cullen

Just saw this picture and I loved it,

Thought it needed conversion to verse.

The little boy’s face conveyed distress,

Looked like he was ready to curse.

With love he stroked his puppy,

Caressed him as if he were sick.

Was sad to see his friend suffering,

But recovery came quicker than quick.

The puppy’s tail was wagging excited,

All hurt was gone in a blink.

He summed up the boy’s expression,

Whoever said puppies aren’t able to think.

The Puppy’s sensed he was on a winner,

Just suck up and whimper when cameras are near.

He’ll come running from wherever he’s at

It’s even better when a puppy can fake a real tear.

The media will run with the story,

Of a young pup who was used then cast aside

Another career politician destroyed,

By ambition and confessing he lied.

The pup now leads a life of luxury,

The old Pollie’s painting lines on the road.

Spending his nights in a prison cell

For not revealing all he knowed

Now there is a moral to this tail,

One from which we all can learn.

One should never trust a politician,

You never know which way he’ll turn.

Author Notes
On seeing this photo, I sensed it was in need of a story. So here's the story. Sorry I've inadvertently misplaced the picture. Getting old really is a bitch.
