All night longThomas waited
As he had the night before
Looking upward to her window
Singing like some troubador

Hours of unrequited love and passion
Seemed a scant and poor reward
For a poor devoted Thomas
And the lady he adored

But then the door was opened,
Was this his darling pet?
A hand appeared, a bucket flashed
and he got sopping wet

A muttered oath,and a "Don't come back"
His coat was cold and cloggy
Then, with a cry, he leapt the gate
Chastened and very, very, soggy.

Author Notes
Perhaps Thomas did not sing too well.
