Vision after cataract surgeries
Seeing it Again by Nottoway

This year I will be going into the woods and the countryside,
I shall walk along the rivers edge and gaze upon the lakes.
To watch the birds land in the swaying trees;
See the woodland creatures scamper as I the intruder wanders past.
Last year I did not see wildflowers bloom along the roads or trails,
As I was not out walking or driving in their serene world;
Not that they were not around but I could not see.
Shortly after retiring again last year,
I missed so much as I dealt with an issue:
Impaired sight, cataracts;
As what was the beauty that surrounded me,
Became a what seemed a dusty haze.
Now, I see with renewed appreciation,
As I re-embrace the world around me.

Author Notes
Starting in May 2022, when my intent was to enjoy the world as COVID restrictions were reduced and a new retirement (2nd), I could not see. My cataracts were so bad that my world was truly changed.

Four months later, after the two surgeries, the world became beautiful again.
Thanks to God and the capable hands of the doctor whose hands he guided.
