The Prisoner writing prompt entry

A nurse wheeled her over to the huge bay window so she could see her family on the green lawn of The Residence.  They sang and waved a sign that said, “Happy One Hundredth, GG!”

She could not hear them, and barely saw the sign.  She clutched her rosary.

This woman who’d survived a century was imprisoned by a broken-down body and Covid.

Outside the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren saw a hand clutching the window sill, a rictus they mistook for a smile.

They did not see the tears dribbling down her hollow cheeks.

Writing Prompt
In 100 words, or less, write a short story--not necessarily a flash-fiction, though it could be--on the theme/subject/topic of 'prisoner'. It could be literal or metaphoric.
