A Constanza for the Potlatch Club Challenge
Betwixt and Between by June Sargent
Artwork by alaskapat at FanArtReview.com

Landscape caught betwixt and between
warmth of fall and cold of winter,
when jagged icicles splinter.

As vibrant leaves give up their sheen,
they fall and litter our gardens
while soil beneath the moon hardens.

These verdant trees no longer green,
as winds turn frosty, they feel whipped
and branches become sadly stripped.

Night's snowfall will repaint this scene,
as mounds of snow protect the earth
until it's time for spring's rebirth.

The joys of winter I shall glean
until these trees rejuvenate
and songbirds trill to celebrate.
