We held hands in the picture show,
Oh, so many years ago.
We sat in the balcony, so we could spark,
Hugging and kissing in the dark.
We would find a spot so no one could see,
Hiding from everyone, my sweetheart and me.
Everyone knew the feelings we shared.
It was a small town, we never cared.
I carried her books through high school
She knew I loved her, I was no fool.
We never thought of being apart,
We knew we owned each others heart
Four years together sealed our fate.
We both knew we had found our mate.
I asked her to marry me, she said yes
She was so beautiful in her wedding dress.
For sixty wonderful years there after,
We shared tears and laughter.
She passed in our sixty first year.
She went home and left me here.
