Our quail are such a joy to watch They cross our yard each day The children call them bobbleheads Cute as they strut away   The Alpha male’s impressive He tends to all flock needs He sits atop the fence rail And scouts while the flock feeds   He doesn’t seem that hungry And frequently will call Then back and forth will walk the fence While he protects them all   Then he flies down to join them When he knows coast is clear But one sharp call from Alpha And all take flight with fear
