It was a beautiful sun dripping, straw hat afternoon
My love and I explored a pine-fragrant mountain path
Unexpectedly, we heard a rumbling sound from the bushes
To our horror, a shaggy bear, eyes blazing with angry wrath
My mouth slumped open, I shouted to Lorie, “Stay still
Slowly wave your arms and try to stand your ground.”
Bear kept coming the drama unfolded, he kept coming
Rumbling step by rumbling step, we froze, not a sound
He suddenly veered, his paw shielding his squinted eyes
Buzzing bees circled about him, he lunged at their hive
Grasp a huge, white beehive in his blocky paws and devour it
Watched him ambled back to the bushes, we are happy to be alive
