Pansy PJ and her sisters, Portia, Polly, Patty, Petunia, Pinky, and Piper had been Penny Porter's pajamas, like forever. That was the problem. The PJ sisters hadn't grown at all, while Penny grew two inches since the sisters came to live with her.

One day as Pansy was snuggled under Penny's pillow, she heard Mrs. Porter say, "Well, I guess we will need to get you a whole bunch of new pajamas. You have outgrown all your old ones.
Pansy couldn't believe her ears. When Mrs. Porter left the room, Pansy slipped out from under the pillow and called for her sisters. Penny's dresser opened slowly. Out peaked Portia, Polly, Patty, Petunia, Pinky, and Piper. "What's going on?" The sisters asked.

"I just heard Mrs. Porter say she was getting rid of us," said Pansy.

"She couldn't do that, what would Penny sleep in?" cried Pinky.

"She's going to replace us with all new pajamas, just like we replaced Penny's old ones."

"Oh, I forgot about that," said Portia. "I remember that first day we moved in. Mrs. Porter washed us and put us in the dryer. When we came out, we were so fluffy and warm. Mrs. Porter took out all the old pajamas and put them in a basket, then put us in Penny's dresser drawer in their place.

The PJ sisters were sad, but they knew the time had come for them to move out so a new family of pajamas could move in.

"What will you miss most?" asked Petunia.

All of the PJ sisters had to agree that it was Penny's bedtime prayers. But most of all, they said they would miss Penny's mom singing praise songs to the Lord until Penny fell asleep.

A few days later, Mrs. Porter came into Penny's room with an arm full of clean, folded clothes and laid them on the dresser. She took Pansy out of the pile and placed her on the bed. She then reached into the dresser drawer and pulled out Portia, Polly, Patty, Petunia, Pinky, and Piper. Then Mrs. Porter stacked the PJ sisters into a pile and tossed them into a basket.

The PJ sisters wondered where they were. They began to look around at their new home. It was nothing more than piles of old pajamas in a basket.

"I remember you," cried Paula to a pair of Purple pajamas. "We replaced you when we got here."

"You sure did, and I was very upset with all of you. Then I remembered when my family and I first got here. We had replaced another family of pajamas because they became too small for Penny. Then one day it happened to us, and now it's happening to you. We got thrown into this basket, and we have been here for, I really don't know how long, a long time, that's for sure." We really miss Mrs. Porter singing praise songs until Penny fell asleep. Does she still do that?"

"Oh yes, said Piper. "And we already agreed we are going to miss that most of all."
One day Mrs. Porter came in and took the basket and placed it in the Laundry room. She then proceeded to wash all the pajamas that had been lying there forever. She then put them in the dryer. All the pajamas came out so warm and cozy. Next she ironed them. After ironing came the scissors. All the pajamas were cut up into little squares. Mrs. Porter was going to make a quilt for Penny's bed.

Now, all the pajamas that ever belonged to Penny had been brought together to make one beautiful Patchwork quilt. It lay on Penny's bed. Every night, after Penny said her prayers, she would crawl into bed, and pull her quilt up under her chin. Oh how snugly and warm it made her feel. All her old pajamas felt warm and comfy too just knowing Penny would never outgrow them now. But best of all, they once again got to hear Mrs. Porter sing praises to God until Penny fell asleep.
