as fires still burn the people's homes
the rains still drown the people's hopes
while trees still fall from people's sword
these changing winds are people's dues
'pon burning lands around the world
we turn our backs on simple deeds
and walk away with charcoaled souls
as fires still burn the people's homes
dark waters rise that breach our banks
eroding streets below our feet
our homes once built now float away
the rains still drown the people's hope
all forests raped for greed laid bare
life's branches fall on children's path
their steps unknown their voices crushed
while trees still fall from people's sword
our spoken words enhance the breeze
that carry promise beyond our reach
as mankind fails to understand
these changing winds are people's dues

Author Notes
The Cascade form "is all about receptiveness, but in a smooth cascading way like a waterfall". There is no set meter or rhyme scheme. The defining feature of the form is that the lines of the first stanza are repeated as refrain lines in subsequent stanzas to give a "cascading effect". S1 L1 is repeated as the last line of S2, S1 L2 is repeated as the last line of S3, and so on until all lines in S1 have been used. The number of stanzas is therefore one more than the number of lines in S1.
