The train whistled loudly as it pulled into the station. Passengers jostled in all directions.
Bulging suitcases, some held together with string were dragged along behind weary travellers. Maseo was distraught. Seventeen years old, he fled in terror from his native village. His carefree life as a pupil in his local school had vanished. Familiar faces had disappeared. He struggled to make sense of it all. The shelling forced him to take action. His tiny village lay in ruins. Rubble was everywhere. Silence spread like an ugly stench. A charity organisation arrived in the village with bottled water. Maseo, being almost an adult was advised to go to the station and join the refugee exodus. With trembling hands, he attempted to contact his parents or brother on his smartphone. 'No, not dead,' he screamed. War had now leapt from the pages of his history book into his young life
