As Fridays come and Fridays go,
this Friday is starting pretty mundane.
But those who have been on duty before
never get shocked by the strangest things.
Oh sure, a fever here, the chills, and some spills.
A few with a bounding heart scare, need care.
However, it is Friday the thirteenth
bating our breath for the fourteenth to come.
The clock can't spin fast enough, for sure.
The unexpected, behind the curtain, is in play.
Something surely will rattle our chains.
Any moment today, putting nurses under undue strain.

I volunteer at a local hospital in the Emergency Department,
Friday the 13th seems to always present the unexpected.
