Welcome May, as you arrive with soft refreshing showers,
And bulbs, once buried in the cool of autumn,
Now dance together as sweet springtime flowers.
Welcome May, as tree leaves dress once more with sleeves of green
In graceful robes of intricate design
From yards and yards of loveliest sateen.
Welcome May, again to golden rays mid azure skies,
While shrubs awake to find themselves besieged
By fluttering of pastel butterflies.
Welcome May, and welcome to the ever-trilling lark
While children, long imprisoned by bad weather,
Shout happily at play in verdant park.
