Mismatched Lovers

She was serious, he tried to make her laugh.
She sought fulfillment; he only gave her half.
She made room inside her head; his goal was her inside his bed.
Mismatched from the start, he did not care about her heart.
He failed to give her what she wanted most.
"I got me a Hottie," was his childish boast.
None were surprised that they failed to jell.
She grew tired of life inside an empty shell.

This poem is not about anyone in particular. Anyone paying attention can see this painful situation acting out across class and ethnic lines. Among celebs and every day folk as well.
