The banquet hall quieted as he ascended to the podium. His voice increased in pace and volume as he warmed to the subject, then ending in a crescendo of vitriol, bringing the audience to their feet. Wild approbation resounded as they gloried in the affirmation of their ideas. All was right with their world.
He took a bow and tamped down the celebratory applause, secure in the knowledge of his power, their collective power. Suddenly, the lights went out, his microphone went dead, he slumped. Cold dread tickled his nape, and a cacophonous wail filled the room. Goodbye, Mr. Twitter.
