I heard the Lord call my name
One lovely Easter morn,
I knew He loved me, and He came
Because my heart was torn.
I heard Him speak, so softly,
I felt His love surround.
Despite the pain that came to me
His grace would still abound.
I knew He saw the hurt I felt,
He saw the teardrops fall;
He put His arms of love around
When on Him I'd call.
I know now when I hear His voice
To listen and be still;
For when He comes, He comes by choice
To lift away my ills.

Author Notes
I wrote this poem many years ago when I was struggling with the death of my first husband. I was visiting the little church we pastored, and always felt God's love there. Later, a young woman took this poem and made a song of it. It was so beautiful, and a wonderful gift to me. She added a chorus.."He loves me, He loves me"..
This year a sister of mine died just a week after Easter. My heart is filled with the pain of loss, but I know God will see me through, just as he did then, so many years ago.
