Oh banana, banana, I love you so
I'm penning a poem just so you'll know
You have yellow skin, white fruit when you're ripe
If I were a smoker, you'd fill the bowl of my pipe
There were bicycle seats named after your shape
Such honor was never bestowed on a grape
Your flavor is awesome, you're a wonderful fruit
Unlike some beans, you don't make me toot
I'll cut off your top and strip off your peel
Then slice you in pieces, I hope you can't feel
You'll top off my corn flakes and swim in the milk
Then slide down my throat, smoother than silk
I'll smash you and mash you and bake you in bread
Some folks like pumpkin, but I prefer bananas instead
Your flavor is mild, your texture divine
When I think of fruit, it's for you that I pine
So now dear banana, I bid you goodnight
I'm off to my bed, I'll turn off the light
But morning will come, the sun will arise
I'll have you for breakfast, and then later in pies

Author Notes
I like bananas. They seem to be available year round, and they are quite a versatile fruit.
