A letter came that said "Congrats,
you've been pre-qualified!"
A card to use to get free stuff?
I instantly applied.

Then came the day that it arrived,
a treasure to behold.
What wealth I held within my hands,
the Mastercard of gold.

It only took a couple days
then it was crystal clear,
when on my porch the things began
to magically appear.

The first big box I opened up
was just as tall as me.
I should have thought of where I'd put
an eighty-inch TV.

Of course I ordered everything
from HBO to sports,
plus every channel known to man
that free wi-fi supports.

I bought high-end designer clothes
like socks and underwear.
The graphics on my new X-box
were far beyond compare.

The FedEx guy I saw each day
became my pal in time.
Now eBay greets me by my name.
To Amazon, I'm Prime.

Since I was rich, I quit my job.
My cat ate lobster treats.
I never had to leave my home,
I lived on Uber Eats.

A month went by, a letter came
with price of payment due.
"They're giving me more cash to spend?"
My dreams had all come true.

I took my friends and family
to celebrate my wealth.
I raised my glass and made a toast,
"To Mastercard and health."

Like kings and queens, we had our fill
upon the feast we dined.
I gave my card to pay the check
but it came back declined.

"I'm sorry sir, but Mastercard
has told me what to do."
In shock I watched our waiter smile,
then cut my card in two.

As I collapsed upon the floor,
I bellowed out and cried.
I'll not forget such loss and pain...
the day the magic died.
