Michael Angelo Vs. Fly by Frank Jauregui
Nonet Poetry Contest contest entry

Mike’s ceiling, soft white - a pure canvass
Is marred by a fly hanging still.
Waiting, Mike sighs from its sky
Looking up which is down
Thinks, how can I down
That loathsome bug
befouling

My art?
…, Shoo!!!

Author Notes
I was wondering as I painted my ceiling here at home, how old Michael Angelo might have handled this problem while working on the Sistine Chapel. I also imagined God himself, looking down on Mike from his depiction of "The Creation of Adam", and perhaps thinking the same thing about him, "how long is this guy going to be here, befouling my art - four years? Enough already! Shoo!!! LOL! (The lines, "Mike sighs from its sky" and "Looking up which is down") is in reference to differing points of view; Mikes' view, in contrast to the flies', and perhaps even God's point of view in contrast to Michael's. Whether you are the one looking up or down, depends on who or what you are God; Man, or fly.
