She feels lost, afraid and so alone.
Her family recently left her side.
She has no money, nothing to eat.
All of her clothes are tattered and torn.
Each day she watches the cars go by,
And she has no place to call her own.
She wants to cry every single day.
Maybe someday some people will care.
Each night the wind makes her feel so cold.
Her hair's a mess, she can't sleep at all.
She listens to birds but still feels sad.
All the pain she feels she keeps inside.
She longs for the day she will have friends--
People who love her and show they care.
She wants to live in a friendly home,
One that feels cozy and keeps her warm.
Why did her family leave her, she cries.
"I may never know the reason why.
Maybe one day I will see them again,
And they will forgive what I did wrong."

Author Notes
I really enjoyed writing this poem. I know there are lots of children that are homeless and feel exactly what I wrote in this poem.
