In rest's abode of stone and straw
Christ donned humility
Surrendered riches for a prize
of frail humanity.
A host of angels gathered there
as shepherds heard their voice,
of Heaven's promise in a song -
on Earth let men rejoice.
Today is born in Bethlehem
Emmanuel the King.
Arrayed in flesh, a saviour born
so may your praises ring.
A virgin girl delivered Christ
to us a Son is born.
And from the page of mercy's dawn
grave's victory is torn.
Three kings had come to honour Him
these men came bearing gifts.
With gold and myrrh, and frankincense,
to Christ who'd heal sin's rifts.
The master of deception came
to lay his cunning plan.
Yet only helped to serve God's will
salvation came to man.
