Elaine's birthday - Dawn's new light
I cannot bring you dawn's new light,
nor can I give you vision's flight.
But I can write you words to bring
in loving's language songs to sing.
For only God can give men sight
I cannot bring you dawn's new light.
I cannot buy you diamond rings,
adorned with gold encrusted things.
But I can give you true love's vow,
and with its riches you endow.
I cannot bring you dawn's new light,
but I'll be there through long dark nights.
If I could write you just one line,
upon its page I'd then assign,
a pledge, and in love's promise write,
I'll faithful be in dawn's new light.
