The Power of Prayer
She'd walked along the byway every moment of her life,
just sorting out the debris, all the things that caused her strife.
Each time she thought she'd cleared it all, lots more would come again,
to bring back all the misery, the anger and the pain.
Her mind was overcrowded with uncertainty and fear,
she'd never seen the sunshine's light, the fog would never clear;
her rainbow, coloured grey and white, no warm hues to compare,
no flowers in the meadow, there was bleakness everywhere.
One night she looked towards the sky and knelt to say a prayer.
"I know that I’m not worthy, Lord, for you to even care;
I feel an emptiness inside, and just cannot break free,
I need your love and guidance, Lord. Is there a chance for me?”
Next morning, when she first awoke, she opened up her eyes,
and saw the daylight dawning as the sun began to rise.
The sky was coloured shades of pink, with powder puffs of white,
she’d never seen the like before, ‘twas such a wondrous sight.
Her mind was feeling lighter, and her burdened heart was free;
she ran outside and faced a world she'd always hoped to see.
She laughed out loud and danced around, then dropped down on her knees,
she thanked the Lord for taking time to listen to her pleas.
Her trials were far from over but with God there by her side,
whatever turmoil came her way, He’d smoothe each bumpy ride.
